The tract
of forestland protects the historic Nathan Hale
Homestead, home of Connecticut's state hero. There
are no trails in the forest but hikers are encouraged
to walk through the woods on their own. The perimeter
of the forest is bordered by roads. Experimental
planting in the forest include blight-resistant chestnut.
